Needle Sizes: Selecting the correct needle size for your project linked to thread weight.
Momopoly or Cotton Thread: Comparison of monopoly and cotton thread for quilting.
Using the Alaska Ruler: This has instructions for using the ruler to make the Alaska Quilt by Edyta Sitar.
Walking Foot Quilting Introduction: Using a Walking Foot for quilting your projects.
Choosing Wadding: There are so many commercially available waddings on the market so I’ve put together some suggestions of what to look for and what to avoid. I tend to prefer cotton or 80/20 cotton/polyester waddings. I love the feel of some of the polyester waddings but I’ve also ruined a quilt using it – the steam iron was too hot and the wadding melted into a papery mess!
Completing the Binding: This worksheet shows you how to finish off the binding on a quilt. You know, those two pesky ends that you always have to puzzle over which way to orientate in order to sew the diagonal.
Facing not Binding: How to add a facing rather than a binding to a quilt. This is a great technique for wall hangings.
The Colour Wheel: A look at which colours work well together when selecting fabrics for a new project. Use it to analyse the colours in your favourite quilts. Also you can use a great resource - www.canva.com/colors/color-wheel/
Half and Quarter Square Triangles: How to produce half and quarter square triangles and how to calculate the size of the fabric pieces to cut.
Flying Geese: This worksheet shows three different techniques for producing flying geese. You know you love them!
Square in a Square: This work sheet shows two techniques for producing this block, and also refers to using foundation paper piecing as a third technique.
Inset Circle: This worksheet shows how to insert a circle of fabric into a block without having to applique it.
Foundation Paper Piecing: This work sheet shows how to FPP a Christmas tree but the technique is the same no matter what the shape! Good for wonky houses.
Curved Seams and Orange Peel Block: Using Jenny Haynes’ “PapperSaxSten” templates.
Quilting: Includes instructions for two different Quilts As You Go methods.
Blocking a quilt: If you want a quilt that will hang well on a wall then it is worthwhile taking time to block your quilt before binding it. Here’s a technique you could use.
